As a Senior Python Backend Developer, you will own the core processing engine and surrounding services that turn a day of financial events into millions of journal lines within a fixed batch window. You will lead batch orchestration across data-quality gates, currency translation, revaluation, snapshots, and period close. You will design these stages to be idempotent and resumable while managing concurrency, transaction boundaries, chunk sizing, connection usage, and deadlock recovery. You will also shape service contracts, REST APIs, message-queue integrations, and the testing approach for data-intensive logic. Success means delivering high-volume processing that is fast, correct, observable, and resilient under retries and failures, while helping junior backend developers grow.
- 5-10 years of professional Python development experience, including asynchronous programming - Production experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask - Expert SQL skills and strong PostgreSQL experience, including set-based design, query-plan awareness, upserts, isolation levels, and locking - Demonstrated experience designing and operating high-volume batch workloads, including measurable performance improvements and the ability to explain the engineering decisions behind them - Experience building correctness-critical systems with idempotency, retry-safe processing, reconciliation, and financial precision - Experience designing REST APIs at scale and applying microservice architecture in production - Experience with concurrency and database performance, including transaction boundaries, chunk sizing, connection usage, and deadlock handling with backoff - Experience writing tests for data-intensive backend logic and using structured logging and instrumentation
- Experience with accounting, general ledger, or trading back-office systems - Experience integrating message queues with duplicate controls, dead-lettering, and replay - Experience designing inter-service contracts, retry semantics, and API versioning - Experience mentoring junior backend developers - Experience with incident management for production backend systems
